Sunshine is Good for the Soul {Weekending}

When people always ask what's your perfect day or what's your ideal weekend.
I think my answer would be this weekend.
Beautiful weather and very little to do.

Last year at this time we were knee deep in wedding planning.
Two ish months away from finishing building our house.
This is our first spring in the new house.
Can I just tell you how great it is to wake up to beautiful weather and have a whole day with nothing to do but  e n j o y  it.

We kicked it off with a date night to a restaurant close by that my Mom had given us a gift certificate to - great night out, beautiful weather and got to wear spring clothes.  Perfection!
How can a night go bad with watermelon martinis to start the night and a froyo stop to end the night.

Saturday was truly perfection.  The perfect cap off to the day would have been some sort of family BBQ but my brother was busy golfing and my parents out of town.

We woke up with the windows open, birds chirping, sun shining in - amazing!
A morning gym session followed by a family walk was a great start to the day.
The rest of the day was a mix of a little spring cleaning and a lot of time outside, mainly on the deck.
Also some binge watching Orange is the New Black -- finished season one yesterday.
Stella got her first ever little ice cream treat and enjoyed one little sliver of shade on the deck.
It's about time we had some nice weather to enjoy!
With vacation right around the corner some outfit decisions and pre packing was done
Derek had to work a little on Saturday so we decided to stay in, do happy hour, have DIY nacho night and enjoy our deck.  Only problem is that we haven't set out our porch furniture yet so we basically had a little picnic.
The warm weather had us in a huge country music listening phase, a fruity drink for me {recipe below} and a spring beer for him.
I don't know why we've never done homemade nachos before! We had so much fun and it was a fun little treat for dinner.  We each took a cookie treat, spread out or chips and topped them with combinations of cheese, chili, tomatoes, peppers, onion, lettuce, etc.  Homemade dirt pudding was for dessert {recipe below}
We had the best night just relaxing and laughing and enjoying each other's company.

Sunday brought the long awaited Lilly for Target line.  Which to be quite honest - I'm pretty over it (and I think everyone is probably over all the hype, talk, etc.)
so I'm not going to bother too much talking about it.
I went to the store at 8am like tons of other people, waited in the line then watched the crazies - like a shelf was pushed over, people were pushing, had armfuls, etc.
I am SO not a "black friday" shopper type so I kind of just watched the craziness - I reached in, hoped for the best and snagged this top.  There were some makeup bags and such available but I was sort of over it by that point - too much chaos for this girl!
The angry tweets #LillyforTarget are pretty funny to read and it's just insane what some of the pieces are going for on Amazon - just go to the real Lilly at that point!

We had a lunch date and some shopping to finish the day then a nice little night at home with some homemade chicken teriyaki and asian noodles -- I did some monogram/Lilly pattern searching on Etsy since the sale didn't go too well and definitely found some cute stuff -- it's amazing the things you can find by just typing in those two words!
Of course the ACM awards were on last night too.

  1. Looks like an amazingly fun weekend, lady! The weather this weekend was so gorgeous right?! My husband and I did a lot outside before birthday celebrations :)! Your homemade nachos look amazing and how fun you ate outside, perfect spring dinner!

Lord all the Lilly drama! I have heard so many insane stories, it's so sad what some people do :(! Hope you have a great week!

  2. Your weekend sounded divine!! I love it. LOVED your toppings to the FROYO, It looked like a mix of chocolate and pb which is my favorite. And the nacho date picnic style was too cute.
I agree about the Lilly sale - ugh! But oh well!
    Have agreat day!

  3. Looks like you two absolutely had the perfect weekend! All of that delicious food, being outside, and drinks! Sounds pretty much like perfection to me! I'm sure Cooper would like that doggy ice cream--Ill have to look into getting some for him as a treat :)
I won't even talk about the Lilly sale anymore. It was stupid. And people have the ability to be absolutely horrible over something so stupid and superficial.
I hope you have a great Monday!!

  4. What a fun weekend! I love the picnic on the patio idea! We probably won't have any patio furniture for a while so we may resort to that idea--love it! Have a happy Monday!

  5. Gorgeous weather + a weekend with very little to do? That sounds like my kind of weekend!

  6. Wow! What an amazing weekend. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and I love the puppy ice cream! Bo loves ice cream.

  7. Sometimes weekends at home are just what one needs. We're in the process of redecorating our patio and I can't wait to spend more hours out there. There's nothing more southern than sipping drinks with friends and family on a patio. Happy Monday! Hope your week is as great as your weekend!

  8. You guys are the cutest couple/little family. Seriously. I need to show your pictures to Ryan to remind him what newlywed life was like and get back on that train. Ha! I'm glad you had such a fun and beautiful weather weekend. Your little nacho night is such a cute idea! The Lilly for Target thing was ridiculous - I had a lot of fun reading through angry tweets and Facebook comments about it, though! Oh, and you can bet that I'm saving that cocktail recipe for warmer days - yum!

  9. Looks like an awesome weekend! Good weather always makes weekends better.

I tried to stay as clear from the Lilly collaboration as possible. I'm terrible in crowd situations and couldn't imagine fighting or pushing over something like a makeup bag.

  10. That weekend really does sound perfect! I love the idea of nacho night! This is why I need a roommate...or to someday move in with Oklahoma so I can do fun things like that. Have a great week.

  11. I'm stuck on the froyo & pudding, clearly I'm hungry right now haha! Looks like a wonderful weekend, I need to get Pixie some puppy ice cream. I think she'd love it :)

  12. Oh you guys are just too cute!! I love that picnic outside and gary and I really need to do that!! You have so much great colorful things ready to pack - can't wait to see all the outfits! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  13. Yayyyy to vacation prep and beautiful weekends with nothing to do but relax and enjoy them :)

And YES I'm definitely over all this Lilly-Target madness. Never even attempted to go check it out. Am I a bad blogger? :-P

  14. I'm so glad you had a the perfect weekend! Picnicing outside is the best! :)

  15. I don't understand the craziness behind the Lilly sale! Is Target planning on restocking the collection after this initial release? Why do people have to have it NOW? Hahaha! The top you got is really cute though :)

  16. That sounds like a great weekend! I slept through all the craziness and enjoyed reading the tales from the survivors! very un-lilly like! How did you like OITNB?? Are you going to watch the second season? The third one comes out soon!!

  17. Sounds like a pretty perfect weekend to me! We never do nachos either but now you have me thinking of doing them next time the weather is nice. I've seen some trays that allow you to make them on a grill and may have to get one for the summer. The Lilly thing was insane and since I'm not into the Black Friday mob scene, I just turned around and left when I arrived at ours - just not worth the headache and bad behavior I would witness!

  18. Oh my goodness that sounds like the PERFECT weekend!! I am so wanting a backyard and deck now to sit out on and enjoy the beautiful weather (although it's already in the 90s over here). Homemade nachos are the best too - and so easy to make! Girl, I'm so with you on the Lilly stuff - I can't believe it was that bad! I don't understand the whole ebay thing - if I'm going to pay that much, I'd MUCH rather have the real deal. Such a shame... but the shirt you got is super cute :)

  19. Fantastic cocktail recipe! I love weekends like that where it just all falls into place and good food, good people and a few libations round it out just perfectly ;)

  20. Sounds like a fabulous weekend! Love your little deck picnic!

  21. What an amazing weekend it looks like you had - very relaxing. Those nachos sound really good too I have never thought about doing that for a dinner!

  22. That drink looks amazing! Makes me wish I was somewhere tropical with my toes in the sand!

  23. The picnic on the patio looks like SUCH a fun time - what a sweet idea :) All of those drinks look delicious!! Passion on the Beach sounds like my kinda drink, love those ingredients!

  24. I love weekends like this! Nacho night is a great idea, I have a weakness for Mexican food! Xo, Stephanie

  25. What a great weekend! I love watermelon martinis, so I would have been all about that on Friday too - haha! And thanks for sharing those sweet treat recipes - can't wait to try out both!
