Memorial Day

We kicked off the start of summer last night with a great little barbecue at the ole homestead.  When I walk out onto the deck there at my parents house, I just feel so relaxed.  The weather was perfect, the food delicious and the company the best.  Mom had the best food ready for us and Steve was a grill master as usual.
Corn Dogs
We also celebrated two sweet little birthdays.  On Wednesday our little Nash is turning five (crazy to think that five years ago we traveled down to Nashville, TN to pick up a dog that went from under ten pounds to ninety pounds).  The next day Miss Stella will hit 1/2 year old.

They each got a happy birthday cookie and a puppy pop {recipe to come next week}.

Stella will be celebrating her birthday by getting spayed.  Nash will probably celebrate with an ice cream cone or something much more glamourous.
We had planned to pick some strawberries before the BBQ but that activity was nixed for the holiday so I resorted to an already picked container and scooped up some delicious fresh lemonade instead.
We spent yesterday doing just what we had done all weekend - enjoying the beautiful weather.  We started the day with a trip to the driving range - both hitting balls - then I broke to bask in the sun and just watch Derek.
Part two of our gardening is complete and it's been a great time setting up.
We added our mini fresh garden out back - cherry tomatoes, zucchini and mint (bring on the mojitos!) and it's the first time I've ever tried to grow something so fingers crossed we see some improvement later in the summer… time will tell.

Other weekend scenes…
We spent the first half of the weekend in Saint Michaels (more on that tomorrow) and spent the rest of the weekend just enjoying being home.  Cocktails on the deck is a big part of enjoying being home.
It was a family affair to pick up a couple things at the grocery store.
A little DIY and knocking some more home decorating projects off the list - which I can happily say is getting shorter and shorter.
Soaking up some sunshine.
Got in a couple nice walks.
I got to enjoy a nice dinner with just my parents and I - no husband, no brother - just my old roomies and me time.  We didn't intentionally leave them out; they were on the golf course :)

Check back tomorrow for some scenes from our new favorite, Saint Michaels, where we spent the first half of the weekend.
