Friday Favorites

I'm welcoming this Friday with open arms because this is another three day weekend for us.  I love three day weekends all the time but there's just something extra about them in the summer.  Although, this past Monday was a rough one trying to get back into the swing of things after such a fun fourth of july long weekend.

I'm taking a little blog break today to enjoy a weekend with my husband and family exploring a place a few degrees cooler than here - which is nice because we're hitting the 90's all weekend around here! We spent more time than needed moving my plants under cover and the dog sitter will be watering away.  Who knew I'd enjoy this gardening stuff so much?!  On a side note - I counted thirty tomatoes starting to show on my one little $2.99 plant this week.  THIRTY.  I can't wait until it's time to enjoy them.  Okay, enough about the plants - if you'd like to follow along with my travels, you can do so here and if not I'll see you Monday!

{O N E} Love
Through the past few weeks Kate,  Erin and Pinky have tagged me in love/hate and I haven't gotten around to doing it but like the idea so I figured I'd throw it into today.  Ten things I love, Ten things I hate, ten other bloggers to do the same. Other than the given of being obsessed with loving my husband, pup, family & friends, here are some other loves…

1. Wine
2. Cupcakes
3. Monograms
4. Lipstick
5. The feeling & excitement you get before a vacation
6. Long weekends
7. Going to weddings
8. College football season
*About two more months and we'll be back to weekends in State College cheering on the Nittany Lions
9. Mexican food.  All of it.
10. Holidays and everything about them

{T W O} Hate
On that not, onto the "hates."  To be honest, there are very few things in life that I actually hate.  So this list is kind of more like I could do without/don't really care for.

1. Feeling rushed/behind
2. When people act like something they aren't (own it)
3. Being Tired.  Also waking up and not being able to fall back asleep
4. Forgetting my reusable grocery bags when I go into the store (borrowed this one from Meg)
5. Traveling in the car for more than three hours
6. When people lack positivity
7. Living away from many of our close friends
8. Dishes in the sink
9. The day after Christams
10. Sushi. I know everyone loves it, I just can't get on board. I DO however like sushi places - they have delicious apps and non-sushi meals.

Okay, up next - Jenn at Going the Distance, B & M at The Sequin Notebook,  Ashley at Hanging with the Hirsts, Karly at Miss in the Midwest, Chesson at A Southern Twenty-five, Owen at The Davis Duo, Kristina at Medicine and Manicures, Shelby at Recent Somethings, Sarah at Meet the Shaneyfelts, Emily at A Little Bit of Emily

{T H R E E} Favorite Recipe - Crockpot Queso
We love dips and are always looking for new ones - they are the best appetizers.  A couple weeks ago we tried a recipe for crockpot queso which was pretty delicious! Also, like anything I make, it was so easy - you just throw the ingredients in a small crockpot, set it and forget it.

Ingredients:
16 oz. velveeta cheese
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon salt
15 oz. can no-bean chili
3 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons cumin
1 tablespoon lime juice

Directions:
+ Cut velveeta into cubes
+ Put all indigents into crockpot
+Heat on low for two hours, stir until everything comes together and keep heating on low or warm until time to serve (switch to "keep warm" if serving over 30 minutes later)
+ Serve with tostito chips

{F O U R} Favorite Pin
How perfect are these little flamingo coasters that can hold your drink while you float in the pool or on the lake?  I think I need to get my hands on a set before summer is over.

{F I V E} Christmas in July
Has anyone been watching Christmas in July on Hallmark Channel?  I cannot turn it off!  I just got into the Hallmark Christmas movies this past season (before that it was all about the 25 days of Christmas on ABC family) so a lot of these are new to me and my DVR is filled with movies. I'm already dreaming about Christmas but today I'm sharing some Christmas in July ideas over on Pinky's blog today while she finishes up her vacation.

Happy Weekend!

  8. MEXICAN!!! ALL the Mexican! Haha! I need that queso right now... like for breakfast haha! And I got the palm tree version of the flamingo drink floats and they didn't stay upright very well when your drink got to a certain point. Hopefully the flamingos are better! Have a great weekend girl!

  9. Mexican food and margaritas are what I live for! Can't. Get. Enough. I almost bought the flamingo drink coasters, but overall they had bad reviews. If you end up getting them, I would love to hear how they work for you. If nothing else they're super cute! Have a great weekend!

  12. Have an awesome weekend!!!! I'm not a sushi person either - and I thought I was the only one! We went to Kona on Monday night for reverse happy hour and everyone there was killing the 1/2 price sushi, and it didn't even look remotely appealing to me!!

  20. I love all your favorites! Super exciting about your tomato plants! I am pretty sad...my apartment complex is redoing our balconies and it has been taking forever. I had to bring my pot inside and now everything is almost dead. Fingers crossed they are able to finish soon so I can revive my plant! Super excited to do the loves/hates! The dip sounds fab...queso is one of my favorites. I love the flamingo floats - so clever! And I totally forgot about Christmas in July...on my to do list for the weekend. Have a great trip!
