We've been back from California for a week now and I'm still missing it. Today I'm sharing about our time in Newport Beach - a new favorite for us. The weather was always perfect with the most refreshing breeze - great for laying by the pool, which is mostly what we did! We stayed at The Resort at Pelican Hill right in Newport Beach and it was the best location and a gorgeous setting.
A drink or two on the plane along with a nap and some reading and we made it to the west coast. I love the laughing photo of Derek that I captured below...
Once we arrived to the resort our room wasn't quite ready yet so we got changed and headed right for lunch followed by the pool. The weather wasn't overly hot so it was an enjoyable day. With some floating on the hotel floats, naps in the shade and noticing that Lydia from the OC housewives a few chairs down it was a solid first day.
The architecture and design of the hotel was gorgeous and we loved our room - the patio doors opened the length of the room making it all open air when wanted and we got plenty of use out of the fireplace.
For dinner we went to one of our favorites, Mastro's, and went for more seafood type options even though it's a steakhouse before calling it a night early - after waking up at 4am east coast time, it was much needed!
We kicked off our first full day with a long walk since we were up early before heading into Laguna Beach for a bit of shopping... and some ice cream.
A quick stop at the beach which was super crowded and then we decided to opt for the pool since we enjoyed it so much the day before.
Tonight we went for mexican at Javier's which had a really neat setting and good tastes. We grabbed a final drink at the hotel when we got back and learned that Luke Bryan was on the property for the night to sing at a wedding.
Our third day in California we had a little time at the hotel to relax on our balcony and grab some breakfast and get in final views of the pool before packing up and moving on to the next.
